The VN-Index gained 0.7% (+8.9 pts) on Friday to finish the week at 1,242.1. The consumer goods sector had a strong performance to lift the market, followed by banks and technology. Throughout the index, there were 284 gainers, 129 laggards, and 80 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume edged up compared to the previous trading day to USD470.2mn.
* Consumer goods was led by food & beverage conglomerate MSN (+4.2%), beer maker SAB (+1.9%), consumer foods producer KDC (+3.2%), and animal feed producer DBC (+5.6%). Fiber manufacturer STK (-2.3%) fell.
* The top stocks in the banks sector were CTG (+1.6%), MBB (+1.5%), BID (+0.5%), and STB (+1.0%). VCB (0.0%) and TCB (0.0%) were unchanged and LPB (-3.3%) sharply declined.
* Technology company FPT (+2.4%) had the overall strongest positive effect on the index. Other top performers were real estate company BCM (+4.9%), oil & gas company PLX (+3.1%), airline HVN (+3.5%), and utility company POW (+5.04%).
* Some notable decliners were real estate companies VRE (-2.03%) and NVL (-2.2%), retailer FRT (-1.7%), construction & materials company VGC (-1.1%), and airline VJC (-0.1%).
