Market wrap: VN-Index declines 0.4% on Thursday

The VN-Index declined 0.4% (-5.3 pts) on Thursday to close the trading day at 1,233.2. The banks sector had the biggest negative impact on the market while real estate had the most positive. Throughout the index, there were 131 gainers, 294 laggards, and 75 stocks that were unchanged. Total trading volume plunged compared to the previous trading day to USD462.4mn. 

* Five of the ten stocks most negatively affecting the index were banks. These were CTG (-2.02%), LPB (-2.6%), TCB (-1.1%), VPB (-0.8%), and VCB (-0.2%). MBB (0.0%) and HDB (0.0%) were unchanged.  

* In real estate, VIC (+1.7%) and BCM (+3.3%) surged and KBC (+0.9%) gained while VHM (-0.1%) edged down and VRE (-2.2%) fell sharply.  

* Lagging stocks of note from other sectors were airline HVN (-6.9%), steel maker HPG (-1.3%), securities company SSI (-3.04%), technology company FPT (-0.8%), and beer maker SAB (-1.1%).  

* Assorted stocks that posted strong gains were rubber producer GVR (+0.9%), chemical company DGC (+0.9%), utility companies REE (+2.2%) and PGV (+1.3%), and health insurance company BVH (+1.8%).
