Major Asian markets hungover in the new year, Vietnam less so. Asian markets opened the year in the red with the Nikkei and Hang Seng Indices both sliding a significant 3% while the Chinese saw their main index, the Shanghai Composite, drop 6.7% to the point where the authorities were forced to end the session early. Not to be an exception, the VN-Index struggled in the morning for direction as large-caps polarized.
