Yesterday's paring back of a downtrend in bank stocks turned today and resulted in positive points to the index. All major bank tickers closed in the green, namely BID (+2.4%), CTG (+1.6%) and STB (+2.8%). The sector brought nearly 2 index points to the VNI and the index ultimately closed at 574.42, up 0.7% (or +4 points). Another large cap, VNM, was up a modest 0.8% today and contributed 0.6 index points.
